10 Fun Indoor Activities for Kids This Winter

As the winter months settle in and the days grow colder, it can be tough to keep kids entertained. But don’t worry! We have rounded up 10 creative, engaging activities that will keep your little ones busy, active, and having fun.

  1. Yoto Audio Player

The Yoto is hands down one of our best purchases we have ever made for our kids. It is an audio player that kids can use independently with audio cards. There is a wide range of content. Our card collection includes favorite books, Disney stories, music, kids meditation activities, and educational content. It also has tons of other awesome features like an OK to wake clock, nightlight, daily podcast, and kids radio. There is also a Yoto Mini available, which is great for travel.

2. Melissa and Doug Sticker Books

Stickers are always fun! My oldest went through a major sticker phase and these Melissa and Doug sticker books are our favorite. They are large, the scenes are adorable, and the stickers are reusable. These are great for when your kids wants to do a craft, but you don’t want a huge mess.

We also love these puff sticker books for younger kids working on their fine motor skills. They are also smaller, which makes them perfect for travel. 

3. Water Doodle Mat

This is a toddler MUST HAVE. It works like the Water Wow books we all know and love. It comes with paint brushes and pens you fill with water. It also comes with stamps and stencils. This Water Doodle Mat will keep your kiddos busy for hours! 

4. Magna-tiles

I have never met a kid that isn’t absolutely obsessed with Magna-tiles. They are durable, easy to use, and keep kids entertained for hours. It’s a toy they will play with for years to come! It is the perfect screen-free activity that keeps kids creating and busy for hours.

You don’t need to make indoor activities a huge ordeal. Sometimes the simplest of activities are the best! Spot it Jr, Princess Guess Who, and Guess in 10 are great for young kids. Everybody loves board games and these kid friendly board games are some of our favorites. 

7. Play Dress Up

My kids are obsessed with playing “hair salon.” They like to go all out and get each other ready for the grand ball at the palace. These are the best pretend hair tools and makeup set. You can’t forget the dress ups! Little Adventure dresses are perfect for littles because they are soft, comfortable, and wash well. My daughter’s Elsa, Sleeping Beauty, and Jessie dresses have been worn a ton and they still look brand new.

8. Make Bracelets

Put on some of your kid’s favorite music and make bracelets together! This bracelet making kit is my favorite. It comes with all the supplies you need and tons of colors and charms. 

9. Sensory Bin

Sensory bins are a total win for screen-free fun! You can make your own with rice, beans, or sand. This set of scoops are bowls are my favorite and this is an awesome container to put it all in. I love searching through the Target dollar spot for fun seasonal add ins.

10. Interlocking Balance Beam

The B. Toys Interlocking Balance Beam is such a fun and engaging way to get kids moving! The pieces can be arranged in different shapes, making it a great option for indoor play.
